Navy to hold meetings on Willow Grove Air Base

The U.S. Navy is scheduling two meetings to allow residents to voice their concerns over the disposal and reuse of the former Willow Grove Air Base.  Meetings are to held on December 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Montco Planning Commission makes reference to a plan to keep Willow Grove Airbase runway

Chairman P. Gregory Shelly, “When looking down at it from 3,500 feet up, it makes sense to have that remain as an  airport.”  Further, Montgomery County Planning Commission board members Wednesday said that from a “purely planning perspective,” it makes sense.  Details of the plan are not known.

Castor sides with Horsham on Willow Grove Airbase runway

Many of the communities closest to the Willow Grove Airbase have spoken out on their desires for the continued existence and use of the runway, some very strongly.  Are your Montgomery County  comissioners representing you?  Commissioner Bruce Castor Jr. has taken a position against keeping the runway open.   Commissioner James R. Matthews and Commissioner Joseph M. Hoeffel III want to keep it open.  This is one of the most significant issues to face our area in my memory.
